About: Dr Kavitha Duraipandi is currently working as a speciality doctor at Blackpool Victoria hospital. With 10+years’ experience in comprehensive eye care, specializing in 6 vitreo retina, Uvea & Trauma (9 years teaching experience), Dr Kavitha Duraipandi has completed her post graduate and fellowship from the apex institute in India – All India institute of medical sciences, New Delhi, India.
Post training, she has worked as a vitreo retinal surgeon in Dubai, UAE, where she has held clinical and administrative responsibilities, such as being a panel member for MOH licensing and MOH Medico legal investigations.
Currently, Dr Duraipandi supports various sub specialities in the ophthalmology department such as vitreo retina, medical retina, intravitreal injections paediatric ophthalmology and eye emergency services and laser.
Name: Mr Manoj Purohit
Role: Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Thoracic Surgery Lead
Qualifications: FRCS, MRCS, M.Ch, M.S
About: After completing surgical and cardiothoracic training in India, Mr Manoj Purohit joined the NHS in 2001 for further CT training. He joined Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool as a registrar. Throughout his career, Mr Purohit has remained closely involved with the quality improvement, improving patient experience and delivery of high class safe clinical services through management, audit, research, teaching & training and risk management.
Mr Purohit successfully completed Intercollegiate Examination in October 2010 as one of the first non-trainee from North West in cardiothoracic surgery. He was appointed as associate specialist in January 2011 and progressed to locum consultant cardiothoracic surgeon doing independent adult cardiac and thoracic procedures from 1st July 2013.
Mr Purohit reached the milestone of the specialist registration via CESR route in May 2014 with support and guidance from CT surgery consultants and others at Blackpool Victoria hospital. He was appointed as Substantive Cardiothoracic surgeon in 2015 and subsequently lead thoracic surgeon.
