ADAS Service Description
ADAS is a consultant-led service run by biomedical scientists and medical laboratory assistants and provides INR testing and computer-assisted dosing advice to some 5000 registered patients on oral anticoagulant therapy in the local Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre area.
While warfarin is a very effective drug, it does need to be carefully monitored and it is important to keep the patient within their therapeutic range. Patients are monitored using the international normalised ratio (INR) level, which measures the delay in the clotting of the blood caused by warfarin. The team have a large amount of experience in dealing with patients on oral anti-coagulants.
We run a total of 19 weekly outreach clinics spread throughout the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre regions. Clinics run at different sites from Monday to Friday and patients will be directed to the most appropriate clinic for them. Appointments can be made or amended by ringing the patient enquiry line 01253 956719. Please see ADAS contact details below.
The service is based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and can be accessed from the main hospital entrance, up the escalators and second turn on the left from the main corridor.
