Advice for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community
Blackpool has one of the largest LGBT communities in the UK. Approximately 10% of the population identify as LGBT equating to 14,250 people across all age ranges and genders. Research suggests the LGBT community may be drinking at higher levels than their heterosexual counterparts and are less likely to seek help from health services to address these problems.
The alcohol liaison team have been working with the Lesbian and Gay Foundation and have been awarded their Gold Standard Chartermark “Pride in Practice” for providing supportive and friendly services for the LGBT community, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has also been awarded the Navajo Charter Mark for is work in addressing the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
