Trainee Who is Who

The current ST Lead is the Associate Director of Medical Education, Dr Stephen Davies. If anyone wishes to meet with Dr Davies , please contact the postgraduate team to arrange an appointment - bfwh.postgraduate.education@nhs.net

The main intake for new Specialty Trainees is always the first Wednesday of February and August. The trainees are required to attend an induction , facilitated by Medical Education which is always on the first Wednesday of February and August. We have a small number of trainees who start in the months outside of these times, these are known locally as "out of sync" trainees , again Medical Education facilitate inductions for the out of sync trainees when they start with us as well.

The Specialty Trainees are employed by the Lead Employer, which is currently Mersey and West Lancashire (MWL).  The current Trust HR link with the Lead Employer is Rachel Scothern and the Medical Deployment Team, they can be contacted on bfwh.medicaldeploymentteam@nhs.net . Each trainee is required to have an Educational and Clinical Supervisor whilst they are training at Blackpool. The Postgraduate Medical Education Manager will contact the department heads when we receive notification of the new starter names to arrange the allocation of ES/CS for that intake.

If you are interested in becoming an Educational or Clinical Supervisor please see information here - Recognition as a Trainer  . For further information please get in touch with us at bfwh.postgraduate.education@nhs.net

We offer an open door policy for all Supervisors and Trainees in Medical Education, and have specific administrators allocated to each trainee group.
