Premature babies on the Neonatal Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital will each receive a special present from Blackpool Mothers’ Union on Christmas Day.

Members of the Mothers Union’ have been knitting clothes and blankets since September and the items were presented to staff on the unit on Monday, December 21.

Sylvia Guise and Enid Nutland from the Blackpool Deanery of the Blackburn Diocese gave the beautifully presented packs of knitting to the unit.

Enid said: “We have done 18 packs as well as separate cardigans and blankets.

“It fits with our aim to help families and young children. We will do more if they’re needed.

“We have knitted for the hospital before. We’ve knitted ‘twiddle muffs’ for dementia patients and we have produced a cookbook for teenage mums.”
