Mandatory mask wearing

Wearing a mask at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals will be mandatory once again from Monday, 11 July.

Due to the increase in COVID in our communities and a rise in the number of clinical and non-clinical colleagues currently on sick leave, a review of our current Infection Prevention Control (IPC) measures has taken place.

As a result, colleagues, patients and visitors will need to wear a mask in all areas – both clinical and non-clinical – to help protect everyone’s wellbeing.

This guidance will be reviewed regularly, taking into consideration national or regional guidance alongside local information about infection rates and other relevant data.

Keeping everyone safe is the Trust’s number one priority and we all have an equally important role in ensuring we provide safe, personal and effective care.

Please remember to:

  • Wear a mask
  • Carry out twice-weekly lateral flow tests, which are available through the gov.uk portal for the NHS
  • Maintain good hand hygiene

Face mask dispensers are at all entrances and colleagues, patients and visitors are also encouraged to continue to gel their hands on entry and exit to our buildings and settings.

Please share this information with everyone so they are aware of this change.
