Making Christmas magical at the Trust

With a few days to go before Christmas, Blackpool Victoria Hospital is looking extremely festive.  There are decorations throughout the mezzanine level of the main entrance, numerous Christmas trees in the wards and clinical areas and even an enchanted forest display in the main reception.

With its Winter Wonderland theme, you can spot owls, deer and other woodland creatures in this captivating snowy scene.

To share the Christmas spirit, there’s a full calendar of “Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas” videos on the website with messages from our colleagues and patients across the Trust, talking about getting home and what that means for them. You can watch the videos here.

Whilst we’re doing as much as we can to get patients home for Christmas, we know that sadly there are patients who’ll be staying in hospital at this time. It’s important that life is as festive as possible for everyone here and it’s been a true team effort across our community to achieve this.

The Blue Skies hospital charity team is working tirelessly in their mission to ‘Give A Gift’ for every patient in the hospital this year and there’s still time to make a donation here if you wish. Many thanks to everyone who is helping make this Christmas special for our patients by donating. You can also keep up with Blue Skies’ fundraising by following them @BlueSkiesFund

Deputy Director of Facilities, Yvonne Widdows, said: “The Facilities Team and Blue Skies have worked extremely hard to bring some extra special Christmas cheer to the Hospital this year, with the fantastic Christmas display. It has been made possible from local suppliers who have sponsored the display, which is a thank you to all our staff who go above and beyond, providing excellent care to all our patients each and every day. Staff, patients and visitors alike can all enjoy some Christmas sparkle each time they enter our hospital.”

If you haven’t seen the display in person, thanks to Blue Skies we can share the festive scenery through this video.

Visitors to the staff restaurant have also been able to enjoy a special scene created for us by Abby at Floral Smiles. Here you can see an igloo complete with penguins, snowmen and reindeer. There’s even a life-sized Nutcracker-style soldier figure.

Thanks to all who have helped create these scenes and brought pleasure to everyone visiting the Trust this Christmas.
