Invitation to attend a free health seminar on Pelvic Organ Prolapse at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals

MEMBERS of the public are invited to attend a free presentation on Pelvic Organ Prolapse, the latest health seminar for members of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Eric Mutema, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, will host a seminar entitled Pelvic Organ Prolapse on Friday 13th July at 10.30am in the Lecture Theatre, Education Centre, Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Dr Mutema will be explaining what Pelvic Organ Prolapse is, why it is important to identify those at risk of the condition and what treatments are available.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse is a condition which common and affects the woman’s quality of life. 1 in every 5 women in the UK will have surgery due to the symptoms related to Pelvic Organ Prolapse. Majority of women, however, are not aware of the option of treatment available.

Dr Mutema said “Though women are not simply a uterus on legs, Pelvic organ prolapse may make them feel this way by the impact it has on their quality of life.”
