Hospital Trust bring a sense of Pride to NHS staff

Fylde coast NHS staff are being encouraged to support the LGBT+ community by taking part in the NHS Virtual Pride day.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is hosting a social media takeover to mark Pride on Friday, June 26.

Content on the day will be made up of staff selfies with Rainbow Badges, requests for Pride inspired songs with dedications to a special colleague or friend and a special socially-distanced event in the main entrance of Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The Trust’s Equality & Diversity Lead and Armed Forces Champion, Tina Daniels, said: “This year we are having to celebrate Pride virtually but that doesn’t mean there will be any less support for our LGBT+ community.

“We are encouraging all of our staff across the Trust to join in by taking selfies of themselves with their NHS Rainbow Badges to be displayed on the Trust’s social media platforms.

“We are also asking for song requests that can be dedicated to someone special to be played virtually throughout the day too.

“We want to use this day to not only celebrate the LGBT+ community, but also to allow ourselves to be joyful and lift each other’s spirits after working so hard under the current circumstances.”

Staff can request a NHS Rainbow Badge, by emailing: Tina.Daniels1@nhs.net.

Staff can send selfies with Rainbow Badges and requests/dedications to: alma.stewart@nhs.net by June 24.

The event will run from 11 am until 3 pm on Friday June 26. There will be socially distanced giveaways and entertainment and the Pride flag will be raised on the flagpole at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
