Hospital charity making Blue Skies gold this weekend

A hospital charity is aiming to make Blue Skies gold at a local waterpark.

This Saturday, July 22, the team are running ‘Make the Blue Skies Gold’ event outside Blackpool’s Sandcastle Waterpark from 10am-2pm

Blue Skies Hospital’s Fund, the charity of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, raises money to aid patient care.

They’re hoping to build a swirl of £1 coins old and new. Don’t forget, old pound coins are only legal tender until October 15.

If you can’t make it and would like to donate a £1 coin, new or old, please do so at M&S Blackpool Victoria Hospital or at Smyths Toys, Marton.

Blue Skies’ Community Fundraiser, Lauren Codling, will also be busking at the event so entertainment is also provided.

Interim Head of Fundraising, Ann Hedley, said: “This is going to be a great event and quite a party! We’d love to see you all there.

“I’d also like to thank everyone who took part of Blue Skies Month in June.

“I hope this special month is firmly pencilled in for next year and if you have any ideas for fundraising we’d love to hear about them.”

The Blue Skies team: Ann Hedley, Lauren Codling, Nicci Hayes and Hazel Preston

“I can’t tell you how grateful we are because we couldn’t have done this without your help.”

Blue Skies are also running ‘Change Through You’ walks which take place on September 30.

Timed to coincide with the Illuminations, they have a choice of three walks – families and dogs are all welcome with young people under 12 and dogs at no charge.

The three choices are:

Bispham – Stargate 5 miles £5

Fleetwood – Bispham 7.5 miles £5

Fleetwood – Stargate 12.5 miles £8

Bookings are now open on Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/change-through-you-walks-tickets-35790563539?aff=es2 .

Blue Skies hope to make it bigger than the Morecambe Bay Walk the charity organised earlier this year– the target is 371 people. Can you help?

‘Host A Hotpot’ is also coming up in October so watch this space.
