We need donations of food to help people this Christmas

Donations of food and bedding are being sought for patients who live alone and are on a low income this Christmas.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, December 15) from 11am to 2.30pm staff will be collecting food and blankets on behalf of The Salvation Army.

The collection is being organised by the Patient Experience Team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Donations are welcome from members of the public, staff and anyone who would like to contribute.

Local charities have also been invited to have a display to raise awareness of the work they do and what support will be available over the Christmas period for people living on the Fylde coast.

A spokesperson from the Patient Experience Team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital said: “We would like to invite staff, visitors and members of the public to donate tinned soup, baked beans, bags of dry pasta and rice, tinned tomatoes, instant mash potato, tinned sponge puddings, small cereal boxes, teabags, coffee, UHT milk and unwanted blankets.

“These will be passed on to The Salvation Army, who will co-ordinate the distribution of a small hamper and blanket to patients, who live alone, are on a low income and do not have family nearby and are discharged from hospital between Christmas and New Year.”

The Patient Experience Team can be contacted on 01253 955520 or 01253 953548.
