Health Trust staff honoured in The Gazette newspaper’s Best of Health Awards

Exceptional staff members from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were winners in The Gazette newspaper’s annual Best of Health Awards.

The Best of Health Awards event was held in the Washington Suite in the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool on Thursday, September 20.

Gillian Parkinson, editor of The Gazette, said: “These awards celebrate all of the people who make a difference to their patients in all the disciplines of our health services and we are delighted to highlight them for their incredible work.

“All of the winners and runners-up went the extra mile and fully deserve the recognition they have received.”

Wendy Partington from the Trust’s Extensive Care Service in Lytham was the winner of the Nurse of the Year award.

Amie Barnes, who is based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, won the title of Midwife of the Year.

The Hospital Doctor of the Year award went to Mr Nidal Bittar from the Lancashire Cardiac Centre.

Medical staff from other organisations on the Fylde coast also won awards. They included: Dr Karen Seal, The Gateway Centre, Mental Health Worker of the Year; Adam Simpson, Blackpool Carers, Carer of the Year award; Duang Roberts, Smooth as Silk, Wrea Green, Therapist of the Year;  Stuart Daintith, Ideal Dental Care, Dentist of the Year; Whitworth Pharmacy, Waterloo Road, Pharmacist of the Year; Dr Chandrasekar, Beechwood Surgery, Thornton, GP of the Year; Carla Hill, Homecare for You, Elderly Welfare Award; N-Vision Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Royal Society for the Blind, Unsung Hero Award and Ann Nolan, Special Recognition Award.
