Health and wellbeing day is a great success

The Trust held one of its most successful ever staff health and wellbeing days this week.

Staff and visitors to Blackpool Victoria Hospital were able to access advice on a host of topics including healthy weight, physical activity, smoking, alcohol and mental wellbeing at the latest in the regular Trust-wide events.

Staff from the Trust’s Occupational Health team were also on hand to offer health checks with more than 70 people taking advantage of free blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, CO and lung health checks.

The Trust’s volunteer health mentors were also on hand to offer advice.

Hannah Foxcroft, Healthier Workforce Project Manager, said: “The event was very successful, probably the busiest it has ever been.

“In total there were approximately 830 conversations with community organisations, almost 200 free trial passes were given for various programmes and there were over 45 referrals or people joining a service for additional support.

“The feedback from staff and the people who attended was excellent and we are really grateful to all the outside organisations who attended to support our staff.’’

Services who took part included: Headstart, Blackpool Council’s Child and Family Weight management Programme and Blackpool Sport, Slimming World, DW Sports, Quit Squad – offering lung age tests and CO screening and Supporting Minds.
