All members of medical and nursing teams follow a detailed induction programme, including competency assessment and supervision. All clinical staff are assessed by an educational supervisor.
Nursing staff attend the ‘Haematology Education Programme’ for two days, this programme is scheduled every six months. Newly appointed nurses are supernumery for the first four weeks of their induction. The department is committed to the professional development of all nursing staff in the field of Haematology and Transplantation. Nursing staff undergo documented training and competency assessment in relevant procedures. This is documented by the Practice Development Sister and audited annually.
