The Communication Trust, in collaboration with City & Guilds, has developed a Level 3 Award ‘Supporting children and young people’s speech, language and communication’. This Award, also accredited by CACHE and apt awards, has been accepted onto the Qualification and Credits Framework and provides a robust continued professional development qualification for people working with children and young people.
Made up of two mandatory and one optional unit, the Award will enable the children’s workforce to develop the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support all children’s speech, language and communication development and identify and support those who are struggling. Part of the Award is assessed in relation to real work settings, ensuring that learning is taken and fully applied within real practice, contributing to improving quality within settings as well as by individuals.
Who is this for?
The Award is relevant for practitioners in a wide range of settings, including early years, primary and secondary schools, and across a number of roles. It may be particularly applicable for those working in early years or in a support role in schools, such as teaching assistants or learning support staff. To support the delivery of the Award, the Trust has developed free resources for tutors and learners.
