This workshop is delivered by EYFS Consultants from Lancashire County Council. Phonics is one of the first reliable strategies that children use when they begin to read. This session unpicks the skills and experiences that children must have before they begin a more structured phonics programme. Practitioners are supported in developing their own knowledge and skills to support and plan for phase one phonics using ‘Letters and Sounds’. Practical ideas and activities underpin important and useful messages about the role of the practitioner and resourcing to enable phase one phonics to be part of everyday practice. This session is for the over threes.
