1.Does the trust have, or is the trust looking to obtain a HASU (Hyper Acute Stroke Unit)
status?
The Trust does not have HASU status currently. It is part of a business case to create an enhanced network model of acute stroke care and rehabilitation in Lancashire and South Cumbria which includes an ambition for Blackpool Victoria Hospital to be an Acute Stroke Centre (ASC) delivering hyper acute stroke care.

3.If not, what is the trust’s timeline to gain the HASU status?
There are no defined timescales in place.
4.How does the trust manage stroke litigation?
Claims are managed by NHS Resolution on behalf of the Trust.
5.What were the trust’s costs for managing stroke litigation in the financial year 2022/2023?
There are no specific costs as the Trust purchases indemnity for claims from NHS Resolution.
6.How does the trust currently feed into the SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme)?

The Trust has a:
- Stroke Improvement Plan which is monitored and updated regularly
- Weekly meetings to reviewSSNAP results and act on areas in real-time
- A Stroke Improvement Board which tracks progress and implements actions on stroke performance in relation to SSNAP
In addition, the Trust is part of the regional Integrated Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Delivery Network which meets monthly and the regional Collaborative Oversight Group for Stroke (COGS) which meets bi-monthly. Both of these meetings have regional representation to monitor performance and share areas of good practice.
