Description
  1. How many parking fines have been appealed in the last two years?
  2. How much money has been raised for the hospital in the past two years from parking fines?
  3. How many times has the hospital had to intervened over a parking fine being issued to a patient?
  4. Please provide any notes or reasons provided to the hospital for a parking fine being issued.

Here parking fine can also refer to a penalty charge notice. Please provide figures for 2017 and 2018 broken down into each year.

If it is not possible to answer this request in its entirety due to one or more questions exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please answer the ones that do not exceed the limits and disregard the ones that do.

If it is not possible to provide any of the information requested due to the request exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, as to how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act.

1. How many parking fines have been appealed in the last two years? 2016/17 –  76 staff 18 patients/visitors

2017/1/  –  84 staff  20 patients/visitors

2. How much money has been raised for the hospital in the past two years from parking fines? Income from fines

2016/17     –    £9,207

2017/18     –    £12,750

 

– Unable to differentiate between staff and patient/visitors as our system does not record that level of detail

3. How many times has the hospital had to intervene over a parking fine being issued to a patient? Occasionally departments will contact the car parking office to advise that a parking fine has been issued to a patient when the clinic has overrun and they had not followed procedure in contacting the office to prevent enforcement action. These are cancelled without question when raised but no formal figures are recorded.
4. Please provide any notes or reasons provided to the hospital for a parking fine being issued Reasons for the issue of Parking Enforcement Notices

– Parked without displaying valid proof of payment

– Parked without displaying a valid parking permit ( staff)

– Parked causing an obstruction/inconvenience or preventing emergency access/exit

– Parked on yellow lines or hatched areas

– Parked outside a designated parking bay/ area

– Parked in a disabled bay without displaying  a valid disabled badge

– Exceeding time in a short stay bay
