Our Trust is aware Black and Asian women have a higher risk of dying in pregnancy, as reported by MBRRACE-UK November 2018.

To support women, we have good processes in place for screening such as Diabetes in pregnancy and identifying vulnerable groups such as non-English speaking women.

We also have a team of Specialist Midwives (the Complex Social Needs Team) who will support the management of women especially those who do not attend clinic appointments and will use interpreters when required.

A specialist mother and baby unit for women with severe Perinatal Mental health Issues is opening in Chorley this year.

We can confirm Our Trust has not had any complaints regarding BAME issues and therefore have not needed to implement any specific measures.
