Biological And Biosimilar Medicines
Description
  1. In your Trust, how much did you spend on Biological and biosimilar medicines, in the past financial year ending April 2018 ? with regards to the drugs for question 1 if you could include the following:
    – Cancer-specific monoclonal antibodies (e.g. pembrolizumab, nivolumab, pertuzemab, Trastuzumab, gemtuzamab)
    – Monoclonal antibodies for both cancer and non-cancer uses (e.g. rituximab)
    – Non-cytotoxic monoclonal antibodies (e.g. Omalizumab, Mepolizumab)
    – Anti-TNF drugs (e.g. infliximab, etanercept, adalimumab, golimumab)
    – Novel oral biologics (e.g. tofacitinib, barcitinib, Brodalumab, Guselkumab and Ixekizumab)
  2. Have you developed a policy on how prescribers can switch their patients to biosimilars and support them in making informed choices to save resources ?

  3. Do you have any specific plans in place for the launch of biosimilar Adalimumab later in 2018 ?
  4. Are there any agreements in place between you the Provider and CCG that would enable savings in drug costs to be made ? (For example, Gainshare agreements where the benefits associated with more efficient use of medicines not reimbursed through national prices is shared between the Provider and the Clinical Commissioning Group party to the agreement.  This included agreements for the switch to biosimilar products)

  1. I can confirm we have spent £10,512,636 ex VAT on the type of drugs requested.
  2. No- Managed on a case by case basis
  3. No discussions are to be held with clinical teams in due course
  4. No current GS agreements in place
  5. No agreements in place with pharmacy
