Response
  1. :-
    1. Wheelchairs are cleaned daily on a rolling programme using an Actichlor plus solution, this averages wheelchairs being fully cleaned on a weekly basis, in addition the wheelchairs are also spot cleaned using a bacterial wipe on the arms and seat after moving patients by the porter.
There is no policy within therapies relating to the cleaning of the equipment for recycling. All equipment is cleaned down with clinel wipes and new ferrules fitted. Any doubts and the equipment is disposed of. The equipment we clean in Therapies is crutches, frames and metal sticks.
    2. Toilet equipment, if returned is always binned
  2. :-
    1. Cost per annum for cleaning wheelchairs £969.86 this does not include the portering spot clean after movement of patients.
There is no cost to the cleaning of the equipment as a trust volunteer completes the cleaning on a weekly basis.
