X-Ray Aprons

Description

1. What brand of x-ray aprons do you use, what sizes and weights are these?
2. Do you have any reported MSD’s due to wearing the aprons?
3. What length of time are staff required to wear the aprons?

Response

1. Manufacturers currently used are: Rothband, ProtecX, Scanflex Medical AB and APC Xenolite, but we are always considering new suppliers when new products come on the market.
   Gown sizes are dictated by the wearer’s height and habitus.
   Gowns are 0.25mm or 0.35mm lead equivalent. Typical gown weight is 6 – 8kg
2. Yes, staffs are referred to occupational health for assessment and physiotherapy
3. This varies greatly dependent on the case, but can be anywhere between 5 minutes & 4 hours
