Subject
Noise Complaints
Description

I would like information on complaints about noise received by your trust.
1.How many noise-related complaints the organisation has received in the past three years.

2.For each year, I would like to know:

a) The department/ward the noise-related complaint refers to

b) Who made the complaint (patient/relative/staff member etc)

c) The nature of the complaint – i.e. if it is noise from staff, noise from another patient, equipment, building work etc

3. I would also to know if your organisation has a noise policy or any noise-reduction measures in place – for example soft-closing doors, not transferring patients at night, ‘sleep kits’ for patients and so on.

  1. All doors that are fitted with door closers are adjusted in accordance with guidance to ensure the door closes at the appropriate rate to allow people to pass through, predominantly on fire doors. We do not have soft closing doors as such.

We do not have a specific noise policy however when possible we would not transfer patients between departments or areas at night time unless there is a clinical need to do so. We would also avoid use of any equipment overnight that may create a disturbance.

We do not have sleep kits available however some of our clinical areas have used eye masks previously.
