ANTICOAGULANT DOSING AND ADVISORY SERVICE (ADAS) DURING COVID-19
The Anticoagulant Dosing and Advisory Service are continuing to provide a full monitoring service for all patients across the Fylde coast currently taking an anticoagulant.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals has initiated a new mobile Anticoagulation monitoring service to help the mobile patients with underlying health conditions and those over 70 years of age who have been advised to self-isolate.
A local company, Motorhome Rent UK Ltd of Blackpool Road, Preston have loaned, free of charge, one of their motorhomes for staff to travel across the Fylde coast and provide this blood testing service for these essential appointments. During the current climate it is vital these tests are performed as safely as possible to patients who have had their lifestyles completely altered.
We are also indebted to Blackpool Stadium, and our three local councils, who have offered space for the mobile van in their car parks. This is a fine example of agencies and businesses working together for the common good.
We aim to reduce infection risk by lowering the footfall in the community clinics and provide a safe and easily accessible service. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential we observe the rules on social distancing and the generous loan of this vehicle will make this possible.
