Coronation Street star sends birthday wishes to the NHS – #NHS70

A Long-serving Coronation Street actor has wished the NHS a happy birthday ahead of it turning 70 next week.

Malcolm Hebden, who has played nosy Norris Cole in the soap for more than 20 years, also thanked the NHS for its service.

He said: “I am of an age, I think I was eight or ten, when the National Health Service was formed.

“I remember it clearly because I lived in a very basic working class area and suddenly everybody had lovely white teeth and they also stopped bumping into things because they all got glasses.

“As you can see, I’ve got glasses and teeth thanks to the National Health Service.

“So happy birthday to Blackpool and the rest of the NHS – thank you very much.”
