Practical Issues

Clothing

When being admitted to Clifton Hospital, we ask that you or your family bring for you enough day and night wear for your stay. You will also need toiletries and a good pair of supportive slippers that fit well. We also ask that if you have any walking aids or incontinence aids that you use at home to bring them with you.

Meals

Meals are served in the day room on the wards or by the bedside. We actively encourage patients to have their meals in the day room on each ward. Patients who require a specific diet will be catered for, please discuss this with staff.  If you have any food allergies please let the Nursing team know.

Snacks and hot drinks are offered regularly throughout the day. The wards operate a protected mealtime policy. This means that no clinical activity takes place other than in an emergency during meal times. This ensures that all staff are free to assist with meal provision to patients.

We do not encourage visiting at meal times, unless you require and wish to have the support from your relative or carer.

Safety and valuables

At Clifton Hospital, we try very hard to make sure that everyone’s personal clothing and belongings remain safe. To help us with this there are a few things you can do:

  • Please send home any items of value
  • If you are wearing a cardigan or jumper keep this with you if you remove it
  • Only bring a small amount of money with you.

We prefer you not to bring anything of value such as iPads. The wards at Clifton Hospital cannot be responsible for people’s property and valuables.

Parking

There is a pay and display car park at the hospital.
