Health Visitors

The Health Visiting Service works with children and their families to promote health and wellbeing from the antenatal period up until five years of age.

Health Visitors can provide advice and support on a range of health matters including:

  • Transition to parenthood and early weeks maternal mental health (perinatal depression)
  • Breastfeeding
  • Healthy weight, healthy nutrition and physical activity
  • Managing minor illness and reducing accidents
  • Health, wellbeing and development of the child, including support to be ‘ready for school’.

Where are we?

Health Visitors are based within the community and work in partnership with the Children’s Centres and Early Year’s Settings. Our health visitors will visit you and your child within your own home to provide advice and support about you and your child’s health and wellbeing.

Our Service Offer

  • 0 – 14 days old,
  • 3 – 5 weeks,
  • 6 – 8 weeks,
  • 3 – 4 months,
  • pre- 12 months,
  • 2 years, and
  • 3 yrs old.

We also deliver the Baby Steps Parent Education Programme helping you as you prepare to become parents https://www.bfwh.nhs.uk/our-services/maternity/baby-steps/
