BTH to host world renowned healthcare improvement leader

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals will play host to one of the world’s most influential healthcare improvement authorities this week, as the Trust launches their Clinical Quality Academy (CQA) improvement programme.

Maureen Bisognano, President Emerita and Senior Fellow, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), is widely regarded as one of the most successful and inspiring quality improvement leaders, and will be speaking to hospital teams virtually from Boston, USA to launch the eight-month long series of seminars for the CQA .

A prominent authority on improving health care systems, Maureen’s expertise has been recognized by her elected membership to the National Academy of Medicine (IOM), among other distinctions. Ms. Bisognano advises health care leaders around the world, is a frequent speaker at major health care conferences on quality improvement and is a tireless advocate for change.

The CQA will officially launch on Wednesday this week, when ten carefully selected teams will embark on individual learning journeys across a range of different disciplines at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust.

Speaking about hosting Maureen at the launch event for the CQA, Trish Armstrong-Child, Chief Executive at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals said: “We are delighted to welcome Maureen to the Trust to speak with our colleagues and share her experience of healthcare improvement.

“This is a seminal moment for healthcare in Blackpool and the Fylde coast, and a real endorsement for the Clinical Quality Academy and our wider quality improvement ambitions.”
