Quality Improvement Plan

IT has been a very busy week for everyone at the Trust and I would once again like to thank you all on behalf of the Board of Directors for all your outstanding efforts once again to provide the best care possible.

Since joining the Trust one of the main things we have been focusing on has been the desire to develop a Quality Improvement Plan that will cover a wide range of areas we know we need to develop after our recent CQC inspection.

The plan is in its infancy and still being developed, but the aim is that it will cover four key improvement areas for the Trust:

  • Urgent and Emergency Care
  • Mortality Reduction
  • CQC Improvement Plan
  • Planned Care

There will also be a number of supporting workstreams to support the plan, namely:

  • Well led Improvements
  • Digital
  • Clinical Standards
  • Quality Improvement Strategy
  • Governance and assurance
  • Workforce
  • Finance

In terms of performance we are all very much looking forward to the festive period but one thing we do know is that the week following the Christmas and New Year bank holidays is always challenging for all hospitals as activity and acuity increases. In an effort to combat this, we are making plans now for this period that will help combat those challenges. Staff are being asked to clear their diaries from January 2 until January 20, 2020 so the Trust can run a ‘Perfect 10 Days’ operation within the system. More communications will follow soon.

Staff health and wellbeing survey

WE really care about staff wellbeing and are working hard to continually improve the way we do things because, as I’ve said a few times before, I am a firm believer that looking after our staff is at the heart of delivering great patient care.

We have identified a number of wellbeing initiatives we believe will make a positive difference to staff working for our Trust and we have put together a short survey asking you for your thoughts on these ideas.

This short survey will remain open until December 31 and once we’ve collated the results, we’ll be in touch again to let you know which ideas the engagement team will be taking forward.

Please take about three minutes to let us know which of these ideas work for you. There is no cap on the number of initiatives we’ll introduce; we just need to be sure that we deliver on the things that make a difference.
