As part of the NHS70 celebrations, Blackpool Victoria Hospital hosted a staff reunion for former and long-serving staff.
More than 100 people attended the event last week which featured tours of former nurse accommodation, a display of vintage photographs and a tour of the hospital.
The attendees were from a variety of years, the earliest being 1948, many had not seen former colleagues for a long time. Most brought photographs from their time at the hospital to share with others.
One former nurse, Marilyn Weston, said: “Thank you for organising today. It was lovely to reminisce and see old friends – There was plenty of chatter and not many silences!
“The displays were great. It was quite emotional seeing a photograph of my best friend in her sisters’ uniform. She died very young and I had not seen that particular picture before. I managed to copy it and I will print a hard copy, treasure it and share with other friends.
“It was very special day. Thank you for all your hard work.”
