A Blackpool choir spread Christmas joy at Clifton Hospital this  week.

Peel Park Choir, made up from workers at the Department of Work and Pensions in Blackpool, sang Christmas carols on each of the four wards, much to the delight of both patients and staff.

The choir sing both at their workplace and at charity events and the group have been together for three years.

One of the organisers, Wendy Southern, said: “We were really excited and privileged to sing to the patients.

“My mum died of vascular dementia and I realise the importance that music brings especially those with memory difficulties.”

Many patients came out of their rooms to join in the singing. Some staff were moved by the carols.

Clinical Matron of Clifton Hospital, Courtney Bickerdike, said: “It was lovely of the choir to take the time to come along and sing to the patients. They thought it was wonderful.”

Peel Park Choir is looking for more members and you don’t have to work for the DWP either. You can find them on Facebook.
