Amazing volunteers honoured by Fylde coast health trust at awards ceremony

Trust Chief Executive, Wendy Swift and Non Executive Director, Mark Cullinan, present volunteers with certificates to appreciate their contributions

Fylde coast hospital volunteers have been praised for their efforts to help patients and staff.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust currently has  more than 300 volunteers in 20 roles at sites including Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Clifton Hospital who provide an average 1,000 hours a week of support.

The largest group of volunteers is the Navigator team which has 84 people offering advice on how to access services at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. There are 65 people who help provide support for the Trust shop and trolley service and 60 volunteers helping out on wards.

The Trust held a  special ceremony to honour volunteers this week with those present receiving special certificates to mark their contribution.

Chief Executive, Wendy Swift, handed out the certificates with Non Executive Director and praised volunteers saying: “I want to thank each and every one of our volunteers for their individual contributions.

“Every single person makes a massive difference to the care and support we can give our patients and their families and we are extremely grateful to everyone for their efforts.’’
