A new chapter for Blackpool delivery suite manager

Holly Martinez

The maternity unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital has welcomed a new face to the team, Holly Martinez who is the new Delivery Suite Manager.

Holly qualified as a midwife in 2005 and has worked at various hospitals in England, but she has now moved back to her roots and plans to enhance the birth experience for women in her hometown.

She said: “I have been in my role from September and I’m so excited to join this amazing team and use my experience and knowledge I have gained from running a birthing centre at another hospital.

“The team are lovely and have welcomed me so much! We have seen how well we have performed in the recent CQC report and I’m so proud of everyone for how hard they work.

“I have lots of plans and ideas to bring to the Delivery Suite- the main one being to re-establish the Birth Centre.

“I would like the Birth Centre to be used a lot more and for us to take full advantage of the facilities we have.

“I think it’s really important to educate mums and future mums on their birthing options so they know what will give them the best experience.

“We are ultimately trying to achieve the best birthing experience for all families who will be welcoming a new baby into the world.

“A healthy mum means a healthy baby and we want to empower patients to be the healthiest they can be while being pregnant.

“I’m so excited to start this new adventure and to make our department sparkle! Everyone works so hard and the support from our team and our families makes all the difference.”
