Work and Cancer – Local support available through Rosemere funded service

Each year almost 120,000 people of working age are diagnosed with cancer.

Whether you are an employee, carer, business or health professional, support and information about work and cancer is available.

Local advice services are accessible both in the Macmillan Information and Support Centre, based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and via the Vocational Rehabilitation Service funded by Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

You can self refer to the Vocational Rehab team by calling 01772 537468 or emailing employment.services@lancashire.gov.uk. More information is available on this YouTube link:

Alternatively, the Macmillan Information and Support Centre, in the Windmill Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, can also help. Pop in or telephone 01253 955710.

Lead Nurse for Cancer and End of Life Care for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,  Jackie Brunton, said: “We are lucky to have this specialist service locally and feedback from patients has been really positive.

“We want people to be aware of the support available and would like people to share this with patients and indeed with their family and friends.”

Jackie would like to hear from any staff members who have been affected personally by cancer and if you would like to share your experiences and get involved in some of the projects the Cancer Services Teams “Macmillan Living with and Beyond Cancer Project” – you can contact Jackie via email at jackie.brunton@bfwhospitals.nhs.uk
