Initial Extensive Care Assessment or Review of Extensive Care Patient's Case Notes

Patient presents with symptoms of suspected cancer

Order additional Tests e.g. MRI

If Suspicion remains Complete Priority Upgrade Form and forward to Cancer Services

Diagnostic Test Reports Suspicion of Cancer

If presence of cancer is not conclusive

Order additional Tests e.g. MRI

If Suspicion remains Complete Priority Upgrade Form and forward to Cancer Services

 

If presence of cancer is confirmed

Referral letter to Consultant (Tumour Site) or to Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) Consultant

Cancer Services

Track patient, liaise with Consultant (Tumour Site) or add to CUP MDT, if appropriate.

Appropriate Consultant to liaise with clinician in Extensive Care Services regarding outcomes (Copy to Patient's GP)
