Latest cohort on the Preceptorship Programme welcomed to the Trust

On Wednesday last week, the latest cohort of our accredited Preceptorship Programme started.

We are pleased to welcome the preceptees to the Blackpool  Teaching Hospitals Family. We are expecting nearly 70 newly registered nurses over the next few weeks across all divisions.

This is a fantastic boost for the Trust, as not only have we retained the students who trained here, but also students from other placement circuits and Universities, such as Preston, Salford, Glasgow and Dundee.

Throughout their preceptorship they will undertake a mixed programme of clinical skills, personal and professional development whilst being supported in their own teams by an experienced preceptor.

Preceptorship is a period of structured transition for newly-qualified healthcare professionals (preceptees) lasting up to one year, during which support is given by a Preceptor – providing supervision, mentoring and support to develop confidence, refine skills and build the right values and behaviours to continue  career development and ensure delivery of excellent care.
