Health and care partners celebrate awards

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating after a group it is involved had two wins in a top awards scheme.

Bay Health and Care Partners – the 11 organisations delivering Better Care Together in Morecambe Bay – celebrated two winners at the NHS North West Leadership Academy Awards last week.

The awards ceremony recognises members of staff within the NHS who excel in their leadership roles.

Andrew Bennett, Chief Operating Officer at NHS Lancashire North Clinical Commissioning Group won the Leading Systems Transformation category.

Karmini McCann, Head of Workforce Futures at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, joined Andrew as a Bay Health and Care Partners winner taking the award for Inclusive Leader.

Jackie Daniel, Chief Executive of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am extremely proud that two of our leaders won these prestigious awards.

“It is fantastic – and we had three additional colleagues nominated as finalists – that we are becoming noticed across the North West.”

Alex Gaw, Clinical Chair of the NHS Lancashire North CCG, said: “Andrew was nominated because of his fantastic work and outstanding commitment to supporting integrated health and care across Morecambe Bay.

“I feel this award is excellent recognition for the hard work, determination and passion that Andrew has demonstrated for the population and for the people he works with across Morecambe Bay. Well done Andrew!”

Dr Andy Knox, a GP from Ashtrees Surgery in Carnforth, Amit Kochar, Associate Specialist in ENT at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Alison Redshaw, Practice Manager at Millom Integrated Care Community were also finalists at the awards, which were held in Wigan.

The NHS Leadership Academy works with ten Leadership Development Partners (LDPs) to listen to, engage with and develop and provide leadership development for people working in and with the NHS.

4. Clinical leaders from across all organisations have designed a new clinical model of care for Morecambe Bay, through a series of design workshops and clinical. The new care models have been strongly influenced by the wide ranging engagement with stakeholders which has taken place over the past two years.
