GREAT events have been planned as part of Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s 80th birthday celebrations.

An exhibition of vintage photographs, equipment and uniform will be displayed on September  26-30 between 11am and 2pm.

A local tour guide and volunteer at the hospital, is set to run history tours around the hospital site too.

Denys Barber, who also runs regular tours as part of The Friends of Layton Cemetery, will be conducting the tours for three days.

The route will encompass original features and will describe how the hospital has changed over the years.

The historic tours will start at 2pm on September 28, 29,and 30 and should last approximately one hour. Denys will greet those interested on the mezzanine floor. For those who can’t attend the midweek tours, there will also be one running on Saturday 1 October at 2pm, again meeting at the mezzanine.

For staff only, former and current nurses who lived in the quarters on the hospital site over the years are being given the opportunity to have a tour of  the modern accommodation.
